95/98/ME Startup/Shutdown screens
|
All screens are 320x400, 256 colors, and 126 K. The icons
below represent the image before it was squashed to fit the startup/shutdown size.
It will stretch to fit the screen during startup/shutdown. When it was converted,
the top and bottom were cropped slightly, and it suffers a loss of resolution. In
other words, don't expect the quality of the Wallpaper images.
Currently there are no animated startups, Sorry.
Instructions for use:
Click on the icon below, and your browser will either
ask you to save, or open the "bmp" graphic in the browser
window. If it opens it, right click it and select "save picture
as..." from the menu.
(The image will appear squashed, this is because the startup screens are
stretched.)
Rename the image to one of the names below, depending
on it's intended use. Right click the file where you saved it and select
rename. (make sure the extension changes to ".sys")
If you want to use it as the main startup screen,
rename the image to "logo.sys" and save it in
your root directory. (the C: directory for most users.) If you want to save the old
Logo image, you should rename it to something else first. (if there is none, deleting the
new image will return to the default.)
If you want to use the image as the "Your
computer is shutting down" screen, rename it "logow.sys"
and save it in your "Windows" directory. If you want to save the old LogoW
image, you should rename it to something else first.
If you want to use the image as the "It is
safe to turn off your computer" screen, rename it "logos.sys"
and save it in your "Windows" directory. If you want to save the old LogoS
image, you should rename it to something else first. (This screen may not show on computers that turn
themselves off.)
